These pages will be the online home for The Gray Matter Newsletters that are being published by Great-Grandmother Mallie and Sister Yvonne Gray.
The newsletters were started in July of 2005 by GGM Mallie & Sister Yvonne and are sent out on a month to month schedule that is dependant on the financial resources available and Mom's health, as this is written (Dec. 1, 2005) they have been able to keep to their stated goal of one newsletter per month.
 

These newsletters primarily focus on the Hamrick and Kimbrell families, however many other families are included as well. By reading through these pages you will get a sampling of the rich history of our two family lines. There are a number of books that have been written about the life and times of some of the folks in our family tree and links and quotes to some of those works will be posted here. 

The links below will take you to pages for the edition for that month.
Please note: The software/file system that was used to build the first six editions is from an older software that is no longer available and is not compatible any currently available products, so the process for converting the electronic files into a format that can be published here on these pages will take some time, so if you check back once a week or so for the next couple of months you should see new pages posted each time you visit.

Nightriders: The West and Kimbrell Clan
If you like to read 'old west history' books you need to pick up a copy of this account of a gang of robbers and killers led by a Sunday School Superintendent. They killed more people than perhaps any other group of outlaws in America.
This bloodthirsty bunch was far worse than most we have read about, like Jessie James and others.
And... they are part of our family history!

Westbrook Database
An extensive collection of historical data about our family members and their relationships to each other. Sister Yvonne published this report in Oct. 1999.
Yvonne states that some of the information in this data base is incorrect and that she has corrected copies available to anyone who would like one. You can contact her and she will send you a copy... you can download the free PAF reader for the files at the FamilySearch link above.

This is very nice site that has lots of pages of the people and history for the Cliffside NC area.
Many of our family members lived in and around Cliffside and lots of them worked at the Cliffside mill.
