We haven't posted an update for a while... must be about time for one!

As you can see in the pictures the progress is good, just a little slow because
of other smaller projects that came up along the way.
The siding should be completed before the weather gets too bad, then it will be
ready for paint in the spring of '06.
Check out lots of siding pix
HERE.
And...
Speaking of wood and getting interrupted, the edges of the storm that was
hurricane Cindy hit us and blew down one tree that took our electrical service
lines with it, but we were lucky because the power stayed on and the damage was
very slight. We did cut down a second tree as a precaution... more storms are
expected later!

Harley the kitten likes the trees, if you look carefully you
can see him about half way up.
Unfortunately all the trees must come down, they are Elm and have 'Dutch Elm
Disease'.

Some house wrap will help to protect things until we find the siding to match
the rest of the house.
This stuff is fun to install, takes at least two people, three would be better.
Michael helped me hang this wall... Thanks Mike!
Now, just have to do the end and front.

Started on the garage.
It needs a concrete slab...
Already have a contractor lined up to do one, as soon as it gets warm enough to
make sure the concrete won't freeze before it sets up.
Meanwhile, while waiting for him to do his thing, the John Deere got a good
workout with a box blade to clear the gravel from the floor.
Notice the breaker panel on the wall, the electrician was told to make sure
there would enough power to handle the woodworking shop that will occupy the end
bay of the garage... he did good.
...yes, there was a change of plan, the shop will be in the
garage instead of the barn.
...And, siding for the exterior walls.
We are trying to find a source for wood siding to match the old siding on the
original part of the house.
You can see how the garage floor turned out
HERE.

The Heat & A/C had to be first!!!
The existing system was a 'homemade' wood burning furnace and some window unit
A/C's.
Lots of work and lots of wood too keep the furnace going and it could not
heat the house very well at all.
I mean, this thing really sucked bad... we had to get up during the night to
keep it running, otherwise you would be in deep do-do the next morning.
So... We had a contractor install a new 4 ton A/C and a gas furnace and we also had an electrician update the
breaker panel to a 200AMP unit and replace/repair some of the wiring... Kay was
well pleased that it was not me doing the wiring, makes her kind of nervous for
some reason. ![]()
Now life is good, even when it snows.
