You mean like scrambled eggs with burger meat in it or burgers with a fried egg on top?

Tonight was an experiment for one of the dishes that Kay made. We had cooked cabbage and broiled Salmon and that was good, but we also tried some Quinoa for the first time and it were pretty suckie.  laughing7

Kay posted this on FB.
Quote
OK. There is a first and last for everything. Ken and I have been trying different foods so tonight we ate Quinoa. That was a first and a last. I cooked it per directions, but neither of us was thrilled with it and decided that we had just eaten something that looked like bird seed, without the Sunflower seeds. No more for either of us. Next will be Couscous. I bought some of that to and think I have tried it before, but being my age, I forget stuff. We shall wait a couple of days before trying this. To people who like this stuff, good for you. I got nothing out of eating what I ate tonight. We also had cooked cabbage and broiled Salmon, which was OK

Been wanting to try both of those myself. I've seen some boxed versions with various flavors like the ones for rice and noodles that are in the stores. Maybe those might taste better.

To me it looked like white rice with a hand full of beach sand thrown in. The taste was very bland and it had a kind of uncooked texture, even though it was supposed to be fully cooked as per the instructions.

LMAO!!! That makes me think of a good thread or site where people can add their bad experiences in detail for viewing and tasting various dishes. I think it would make for fun reading. :)

This makes me think it was not hydrated enough... Perhaps, it did not either:

1.  cook long enough
2. have enough liquid
3. sit long enough after cooking

...or a mix of one or more of those...

Sounds like rice when it's not done right. There might be a technique to it...

I just did a search and was reading that most instructions say to do this:

Quote
Boil two cups of water. Add 1 cup of quinoa. Cook for 15 minutes.

But my searches say to not do that and do this:

Quote
It is 1.25 cups of water for 1 cup of quinoa.

Very different from rice...which is mostly 1 cup of rice and 1.5 cups of water for most rices. Some type of rices will be different. I'll have to give it a testing. LOL

I don't know what formula/ratio Kay used, maybe the lessor amount, but in any case she did whatever the package called for.

I made breaded scallops with fresh bread crumbs, KAF pizza seasoning and paprika. Very tasty!

Just finished up on a nice bowl of veggie soup that included ground chicken... very tasty. And, cornbread!

Ha ha! I was thinking about making some cornbread today...and some cookies but been busy with a new site and making the scallops. Since I have off Monday, maybe I'll make the cookies and the cornbread tomorrow.

When I was still working those long weekends were wonderful!  :happy1:
Of course now that I'm retired every day is Saturday, except when it's Sunday... TBT, that can be a bit boring at times, but, no, I don't want to go back to work.
