I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

Geocaching: Finding Hidden Treasures Near Where You Are.

Geocaching: It's a way of finding hidden treasure near where you are, maybe just around the block!

What Is Geocaching?
Quote
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.
... if you don't have a GPS you can still hunt for treasures. I don't have one...yet.  :08:

I had never heard of Geocaching until seeing a topic on SKhilled's Family Gathering web site. One of the members there, 'Burgundyrose', posted about a treasure hunt that she did... you can read about it here.

We all know about things like the 'Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow', or finding a message in a bottle that washes up on the beach... well this is a modern high-tech version of the treasure hunt and it sounds like my kind of game!
The hidden treasure can be a very simple easy to find location, like one placed by the kids from one of our local daycare centers, or it can be a really hard and complex set of sites like this one based on Nascar Teams.

For my first one I've picked Seismic Monitor because the scientific implications. Normally when you think of seismic activity you think of places like California, or Japan but here in North Carolina we have two of these monitoring stations and one is only about 3 miles from our house!  :bigthumb:
So, this morning I needed to go to the auto parts store and tried to find the Geocache, but did not find it so me gotta do more research on how to do this treasure hunting.

Check it out... post your adventures and results.
