R.I.P Ron
« on: April 25, 2023, 08:16:34 PM »
R.I.P. to my Brother, Joseph Ronald (Ron) Kimbrell.
We lost Ron in March when the cancers that had plagued him for the past several years finally took him from us. We were saddened of course, but this was expected for some time now.
Brother Ron was well loved by all of us and we miss him.

And, as it happens, this remembrance of my brother Ron also serves as a bit of a shout out to our very own Skhilled!

Some years ago Steve met up with me and two of my brothers when we came up to Pennsylvania for a visit with our Mom, Mallie. Mom really enjoyed the visit and would always ask how my friend Steve was doing in the years that followed. She loved the idea that her son had a friend that drove for some distance just to visit with her and her son.

So, Steve, I thought that you might enjoy seeing the photo below that shows the oil on canvas painting that Mom did back in 1978(?the date is hard to read?) as a self portrait. The painting was part of Ron's estate and the family has decided that it should go to my oldest son, james3 because my siblings and me are getting too old to be collecting 'family memorabilia'.
Mom rarely did portraits, likely fewer that one or two dozens over her life time, most of her work was with pen and ink and was landscapes and farm scenes.

Ms. Mallie was such a sweetie!  :happy1:

I wish I would stuck with drawing ant art. This is why I've never let my son (who is a gifted artist) be discouraged from it like I was...  :-\

So sorry to hear about your brother Ken.

Your Mother was a great artist.  :)
