GPa's New Toy!
« on: December 14, 2009, 08:15:34 AM »
Yes, another one!   laughing7

So, GMa Kay is thinking that the Acer Aspire One is not seeing a lot of use by GPa lately and she's thinking that maybe GPa needs a bigger Laptop and then maybe she could use the Acer... and maybe a new lappy for GPa would be a good Christmas gift...

Next thing you know she's coming home with this big honking 10lbs bad-boy HP!   :happy1:

So what am I thinking about it?
I'm thinking that this is one kick-butt PC! Still learning to use it of course, but so far it has been impressive. The 17.3" wide screen is plenty big and the display values are great, it looks as good as my 19" widescreen desktop monitor. And, this thing has plenty of muscle for running apps including games, I loaded it up with one of my fav games, 'Prey' and it managed all those heavy graphics and animations in this game with no problems at all.
As mentioned, I'm still learning to use it, after all it has only been a couple of days, so I may post more later but to this point it is a real joy to use.

Thanks GMa Kay!  :happy1:

Nice!

When I get my tax rebate back I'll probably build a new PC or max out this one.

Building a new one is always a fun thing to do... it's been 3-4 years sense my last build, been buying them off the shelf lately. But building up an old one can be fun too, I've finally run out of junk parts so my days of knocking one together are at a standstill for now.  :08:

I buy all new parts including the case unless the PC I have is still worth upgrading. I do my research to make sure they'll all work together then I go for it. I usually buy from microcenter.com. I just go to the store instead of online then I can see everything. They have everything you'll need to build a custom PC. They even have a training center, a book store and can assemble your parts for you, for a price, all in one store. But I'd rather assemble it my self.

We have a small store like that here, but I've not tried them for a full build... have used them for some parts though.
