LOL!

Yeah, you'll get your hands dirty soon enough. :)

btw, check and see if there is a bug report about copying and pasting posts in RC3. Sometimes, when I copy and paste there are extra spaces added.

Steve, your issue has been posted in the SMF Bug tracker (2010-03-23):
http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=4200
It has been fixed in an upcoming version.

Norv had spotted this FF topic and has pointed me to the bug post in the development boards over on SMF... thanks Norv.   :2thumbs:

Try and see if you can duplicate this on the test site...

If you ban a member who is awaiting activation it will still show you that member is still awaiting activation. The member will not show up on the awaiting activation page though...

Having a way to show which members are still waiting activation even if they are banned would be nice.

OK, I'll give that a try.
Just so I'm clear, why would you ban the person before they become an actual member? Why not just delete the registration? Because they would just try again under the same username/info?

I use the stop forum spam mod and they show up as a spammer. Also, I always check new users by using "Track IP" which will show any extra accounts that they may have created. So, I then ban each account separately on ALL triggers because although they may have the same ip they may have different names or emails with each account. That will also stop them from using any of those names and emails even if they use a different IP.

Some of the extra accounts are waiting activation. Any accounts that are in the stop forum spam db will automatically be put into the "Awaiting Activation" list. Staff will have to approve them first. Sometimes, I ban them before approving them and this is how I found this out.

Also, if you just delete the registration they can still re-register because they are not banned.

The only way to find out who this user is, is to go through the entire list of bans one by one to find out who it is. They do not show up in the Awaiting Activation" list nor do they show at the top of the list of bans. If you run a site like SMFArcade and are banning a few spammers up to 10 or per week it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. LOL

OK, ran the test using today's daily build...

It is showing me that behavior.

Here's my step-by-step, see if this follows your logic:
1/ Have the potential member register... 'jake'
2/ Ban the member, email and username.
3/ View Members List, member still shows.
4/ View Awaiting Approval, member is not showing.

Thanks, just wanted to make sure that it is not something Niko did to SMFArcade. I think there should be a better way to sort banned members like that way and by how many multiple accounts they have registered.

This link on SMF is related I think.
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=219365.0

I may post this to SMF, but need to research a little more so as to post a coherent message about the issue.

They should also be removed from the awaiting activation listing.

I going to head to SMF next. LOL Thanks for the link. btw, there is no error in the logs for this...that I could find.

EDIT: I should say that the members is still "Awaiting Approval" not "Awaiting Activation" which is sort of the same thing. Once to either approve or activate they have a legit account.
