I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

Building a Gun Rack!
« on: April 13, 2017, 07:14:58 AM »
Recently we had one of our Great-Grands, Eli, scheduled to come over and stay with us for a couple of days. Now that's a good thing, but there were a few small issues to sort out ahead of time and the most important one was what to do with my guns because they were currently standing up in the corner by my bed. Eli is walking really good now and is very much into everything that he finds, so something had to happen with those guns.  :o

So, my solution was to build a gun rack.

I searched around online and found some nice plans and used those to cut the parts of the rack.

Here's a couple of the parts being sanded and if you look closely you can see the Kreg pocket holes that I drilled for fastening the parts together.

My first attempt didn't work out too well because the openings/saddles when the guns were supposed to sit were way to large, so back to the drawing board, as the saying goes.

The next version worked out a little better.  laughing7

So, the rack is finished and on the wall. Next the rack will be taken back down and after a few tweaks and a little more sanding the rack will receive a finish. Not sure just yet what the finish will be, maybe a stain to give it a bit of color and some poly to shine it up some.

Great job and fast too! Yeah, the little ones can get into things that you wouldn't think they could!
