New iPod Touch 8GB
« on: May 09, 2010, 03:32:39 AM »
http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/

I've been wanting an iPod for some time now, especially, since I've amassed a huge iTunes collection to go along with my huge CD collection. But, I've decided to spend the extra $$$ and get the touch version and I am VERY happy with it. I do want a few "extras" such as an extra long cable because the original one is pretty short. LOL

However, not only does it play music from iTunes and can convert Cd's, it can play videos and games as well as surf the net! There are thousands of apps that you can download for free or just a dollar or 2. I'm looking at Mark Bittman's "How To Cook Everything" app. Yes, it is the same as the book (which I own BTW, lol) but has so much more.

I've been so impressed with all of the features that after a day of playing with it I'm just starting to listen to music finally.  :2funny: Of course, Tina has been confiscating it from me at every turn since she wants one. Even Lealer and Brandon want in on it now. Luckily, it does have a password-protect feature to stop annoying family members from accessing it fully or just certain features.

I've downloaded a few apps already, a games and a few others like a wifi locator so I can connect to any nearby wifi when I'm out of the house. ;)

I never did either. I don't like the regular iPods because the controls suck and I'm usually on the PC so I listen to my music there. But because I've been amassing a large iTunes collection I thought it would be nice to take all of the songs along and not have to burn them to CD.

Eventually, I'll get an iTunes compatible car radio so I can use it there as well.

The funny thing is that I'm playing with everything else not listening to the music...which is what I originally bought it for.  :2funny:

Found a nice app called TextFree. It lets me send and receive text messages for free!  :yahoo:

Actually, the iPod is becoming indispensable to me. The grocery app reminds me of what to buy at the store. It contains a full list of almost all of the most nationally recognized brands or products PLUS you can add your own. You can add cost, an image and what stores sell it as well as any remarks. This way you can send someone to the store and they can't say they didn't know what you were talking about. LOL

I also use the Task Master app a lot. It keeps a list of things to do, etc. I use it for my upcoming business and it also syncs with Google Docs. ;)

Last weekend, I bought a new car stereo so I can listen to my music in the car. Now, I just have to figure out how to stop buying so much music and apps so that I don't go broke before I can get my business off the ground! LOL

Ken, if you do decide to get one go to Best Buys. You can play with them there first. They also have the best warranty! The Black Tie Warranty will replace it or fix it if you drop it, spill something on it, the touch screen doesn't work anymore, etc.  :2thumbs:

Dude, that angry birds game is fun! I have the lite version though.  I have been able to pass all the levels with 3 stars except the level 7. Level 7 just won't let me win! lol

Yeah, the touches are nice. I have the iphone though. Same features and stuff though. :)
I love cheese cake.

The lite version is different, I downloaded that one first. It contains a mix of certain levels to give you a taste of the different types of birds available.

The paid version has 3 levels with 21 sections in each...and that is just for the first segment! There are 3 segments and you can also find Golden Eggs which are like hidden/extra levels to unlock extra things. The levels are very challenging but fun and you can replay them over and over. ;)

Here's a great app I've found last weekend from Woman's Day Magazine.

Woman's Day Cooking Assistant

Of course, there's tons of recipes and they are all online to save space on your iPod. But there's also a wealth of other features. The best for me are the Herbs and Spices Dictionary and the Kitchen Tips. The first gives you a listing of just about any herb and spice you can think of origins, background info and uses.

The second, Kitchen Tips, shows you all kinds of great tips such as the differences between oils, kitchen safety, drying and freezing herbs, etc.

There is also a handy shopping list that you can add your recipe ingredients to very easily. You will not be sorry you purchased this app! ;)

I got text free too. Good app but you must use it once in 30 days or lose your number.

Here's a great app review site and they also have a magazine that is available at Border and Barnes and Nobles:

I'm trying to set up an RSS feed for their daily recipe using the RSS Feed Poster:
