My New PC - 2024
« on: September 28, 2024, 03:42:15 PM »
I just got back home awhile from Micro Center. Instead of buying the parts to build a PC, I went there with intentions of either buying a laptop or a PC and decided on a PC:

https://www.microcenter.com/product/682496/powerspec-g519-gaming-pc

I also got a 4tb external hdd:

EDIT: Well, that was dunb!!! I just opened the box and saw a keyboard and mouse inside! I didn't even know it cam with it! But...I also bought a kb while I was at the store!  :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

That's an impressive looking setup.  :) Should give you all the tools for some serious gaming, etc.

I don't have need on anything like that. No high speed internet here anyway.

Have a 1TB external drive made by same company. Have had is quite a few years now. Pretty sure I spent more back then for it.

Well, I had to get one sooner or later. The one I have is about 6-8 years old. Who knows how long it would've lasted. I'm surprised it has lasted this long and still going strong.  :D

I normally buy the parts separately and put it together myself. It would've cost me more but I would've had a really good PC that would cost even more if it was prebuilt with the same parts. I've been building them for about 25 years now and I guess I didn't want to have to do it again.

Besides, I think this was a great buy for what I got and the cost. Other pricier ones only had 16GB ram and less hd space. :(

The only thing that I don't like is that the ports are on top of the case where more dust and dirt can get into them causing problems. I'd rather have them on the face and back instead. But I'll just either buy blanks to put in them or put a piece of cloth over it when not in use like I do my keyboard.

Fun? Ha! It'll be fun "IF" I ever get past upgrading all of the software and drivers that I've been doing since last night.

Then, I can start copying all of the things from my last PC. I also need to go over some of the various YouTube vidut what not to do or to disable/enable in Win 11 for privacy, etc. I was dreading getting Win 11 because of the many things I've heard about it.

I've found that I've got a Gigabyte motherboard!!!  :D I've always loved them and have chosen them way more than other ones! I think that I've may have always bought those but do remember buying an ASUS Mobo once.

But, it has changed a lot over the years! For instance, you can change the colors of the fans (the case fans and the cpu fan, separately!) to a lot of variations like pulsing, blinking off and on, brightness level, etc as well as change the speeds and many other great features! But this is the one thing I find the most interesting. You can prioritize which things that download or run have the most priority...on the fly!!! A screen will show you which programs are running and the highest priority. If you click it, you can choose how to prioritize it! Amazing!!! This means that I can start a download and set it to have the most priority over other apps so that it can download faster!  :D :D :D

I remember there used to be a program like that years ago but have forgotten the name of it...

EDIT: I've forgot to mention that the mobo software includes cFosSpeed:

I've only just begin to try to figure out the many settings and options it has. May be awhile before I can understand it all. LOL
