I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

Great-GrandMother Mallie goes into a Nursing Home.
« on: January 23, 2010, 09:31:35 AM »
Greetings Family

As some of you already know, Great-GrandMother Mallie went into the Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Columbia, Pennsylvania yesterday evening.

We will have more info as soon as possible, but here are her contact details that are currently available:

Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
745 Chiques Hill Road
Columbia, PA 17512
717- 684 7555
Wing B, Room 12A
Rd. Christopher Porter

EDIT: Just tried to call Mom and found out that she has returned home. She didn't like the nursing home and would not stay there so they released her... don't know what the future plans will be.

At this time there may not be a phone in her room so you may not be able to contact her in that manner for now, but Yvonne will have one installed within a few days.

I'll post more detail soon.

Sorry to hear, Ken. I'll try to stop by one day since it is only about 45-50 minutes from my house.

She would love that Steve, Mom has mentioned often the fact that you live near by and that it would be nice to meet you.

We've added a PayPal [Donate] button for you to use if you wish to help Mallie with her personal expenses.

The Nursing Home takes most of her SSI income to cover the care that she is receiving, leaving her with only about $45 per month as an allowance and that will be used up for her telephone line. This means that she won't have any spending money unless we, her family, send it to her.

The donate button can be found in one of the left side blocks on the forum page of the FF site and it's tied to my PayPal account that I've had for years now and so I know that it's completely safe. Any amount is OK and all of the funds received will be sent to Yvonne so that she can buy anything that Mom requests and bring it to her. If you prefer you can send funds directly to Yvonne and if you don't have her address let me know and I'll send it to you.

Thanks... Ken

I've been down that road with my grandmom and mom. Everyone should remember not to send or give things that she should not have...bad foods, things she may be allergic to, etc.

This is another reason that I've set up the donations thing... that way Yvonne can help monitor what Mom gets because she has been assisting Mom in her daily life for some years now and has a really good feel for what Mom wants and what her real needs are.

Just talked to Mom and she is feeling some better. She has no phone in her room yet, but the staff was kind enough to take a portable 'house' phone to her and we talked for about five minutes.

She's not wanting to be there in the nursing home of course, but has already started to improve some and ate most of her breakfast this morning which is good because she hasn't been eating very well for several days now.

More later... Ken

Yeah, the phone company might take up to a week or so unless you keep calling them if they do not do it when they say they will.

I'm so glad that she is eating more. That will help a lot.

I doubt if she'll like any of them.
