Whiskey Steak Sauce
« on: May 29, 2017, 08:01:22 AM »
This is a ripoff from the Black Angus Steak House's recipe. But it is sooooooooooooo good! It would also be good on pork chops, etc.

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon butter
2 Tablespoons sliced onion
2 cups of low-sodium beef stock
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 clove finely diced garlic
2 tablespoon whiskey, cognac, brandy - I used Jack Daniels
1 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons worchestershire sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 Tablespoon water

Directions:

Saute the onions in the butter over high heat until they start to turn brown.

Add half of the beef stock, garlic and pepper and simmer over medium-high heat until reduced by half.

Add the whiskey,  worchestershire sauce, honey,  and remaining broth and simmer until slightly thickened.

If you have already cooked the steaks, pork chops, etc. pour in any accumulated juices back into the pot.

Mix the cornstarch and water together and pour into the pot.

Simmer until slightly thickened or to your liking.

Taste and season with more salt and pepper if needed.

Kay uses their bottled version of the steak sauce and we love it... she uses it on lots of different dishes.

Yes, that one is good, too. But this is better, imo and you can tailor it to your liking.
