I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

Microsoft Update Wednesday
« on: December 02, 2009, 03:55:57 PM »
Yet again there's a wazoo of updates and naturally they require a reboot of the system.   :e-grin:

This is really getting to be a pain.   A couple of the machines I run as crunchers don't have monitor, keyboard, and mouse, so whenever these updates that require reboots hit it stalls the system and crunching stops.

I've always felt it was safest to allow security updates automatically but am seriously beginning to question that stand since it's regularly messing with the crunching.

Someone ought to smarten them MS folks up.   :girlfight:

If you install BOINC as a service it will crunch from boot up ,

As a service is the only way I ever install it and I log in as administrator when I do it yet I still have the odd machine that anytime a reboot is required it kiboshes things.

I think it's to do with the BIOS options on that unit because my guess is that it stops as a result of not sensing a keyboard, mouse, and monitor so sees it as an error and the BIOS on that one doesn't allow me to set it to ignore errors.

Most of my rigs don't have those things either not even graphics cards.I just turn off automatic updates.Don't need them if machine is running smoothly.

In BIOS select Halt on no errors.

I never allow update on my crunchers.  My daily driver is the only one updated.

I figure if it crunches, it's fine :08:
