I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

Gettin' Around In DC!
« on: August 27, 2017, 05:19:16 AM »

For our lodgings we were at the Wyndham Old Town Alexandria, Va and it was nice and besides the standard fare that you expect in a room, it also included a full kitchen... of course we didn't actually use it for cooking very much. Shelly cooked Spaghetti and Meat Balls one evening and James3 cooked bacon, eggs and hash browns one morning. For the rest of our meals we ate out and that's covered elsewhere.

One of the nice features of our accommodations was the close proximity to the Metro rail system and we used it for most of our travels between Alexandria, Va and DC. It was great because the trains were very clean, very fast and there were lots of them. In DC we also used the Uber cabs twice because the walking was a bit too much for me, more about the walking in a later reply to this topic.

For our travels inside the city of Alexandria we used the Free King Street Trolley... very handy and lots of fun.  laughing7

James3 and Shelly stocking up on info at the Alexandria visitors center.

Did I mention the walking???  shocked003

Shelly used her Fit-Bit to track our progress and our readings were as follows:

Day              Steps         Miles
Monday        15,922       6.85
Tuesday       13,995       6.01
Wednesday  12,742      5.47
                     42,659      18.33

We put in some walking on Sunday evening, but I don't have any data for that day... maybe 2-3 miles on that day as we went down to the Potomac River water front, walking some and using the trolley some.

Full disclosure... the train and trolley pics are not mine, me copied them from the Metro and trolley sites.  laughing7
