I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

new lightscribe dvd/cdr writer
« on: December 28, 2009, 03:49:44 PM »
Well I am quite impressed so far, a little slow, but the finished print is not too bad, only done two discs here is a copy of the first one..

you only get gray scale, a normal disc will take up to ten mins with lot to print, and you will never run out of ink.
sorry I am not much good at writing these reviews  :beg:

Looks good Les.  :bigthumb:

Have not tried mine yet, gotta get some Light Scribe discs to soon and see how it works.
So, it won't let you do colors?

Ah well... they'll likely do that at some point.

ummm not sure if we will ever get color, got to be some special drive that could do that, and use some sort of ink.

The way it is now no ink is used, just the laser to burn the image to the disc!

they will eventually put colored layers on the Disc and the intensity of the burn will determine which layer is exposed

I've had one of those units installed in my backup PC for almost a year and have never gotten around to buying lightscribe disks to try it out.   :bigteeth:

Looks cool though Les.

I have a "lableflash" writer already on my pc, but the price for discs is far too much, like $2 or $3 for each disc, no way I would pay that, and that is still not color print.

Why pay that much when you get the same thing for 30c a disc or less, and the drive only cost $25 !

Here in the States you can find the discs' at BestBuy and others for about 80-90 cents for CD's and about $1 for DVD.
(Memorex - Cool Colors 25-Pack LightScribe 16x DVD+R Disc Spindle - Multicolor = $20.99)

I don't expect to ever use very many of them, so a 25-pack will probably be all that I ever need.  :08:

That what I was thinking.

I've had a lightscribe for about a year or 2 now. I've only burned 2 discs with the laser...just to see what it looked like. The better the quality you use, the longer it takes to burn. The good thing is that you can use any image program to create what you want on it.

I want to try it of course, so I'll pick up some LS discs soon... but as mentioned, my use will be very limited so for the most part any discs that are burned will be on my desktop. Lots cheaper, lots faster and the ole marker pen works just fine. :)

Don't even mention bu hdd!!!  :yikes:

For some time now I've been saying that all my stuff needs to be copied off so that Vista can be dumped and XP Pro installed on my desktop PC.
Too much work and me too lazy.  :undecided2:
