Some times this code stuff can be really challenging, so it helps to have friends and associates who know how to actually write code.
Case in point... Bloc posted this:

Ah, that would suggest the language files for pmxblog is missing a global.

If you haven't already, theres no need to un-install it then. But you could try adding this line in PmxBlog.english.php, right before any $txt lines:

global $context;

I would suspect the errors go away then.

And then, once I did that edit, the error was solved.

hmm, but that error is still there Ken, 8: Undefined index: forum_name

It's a mod conflict...most likely PMXBlog.

I checked "Disable Evaluation Of Templates" to see the real errors. Then I went into the blog as well as a few other places. You can see the many errors the showed up after viewing just 3 pages.

There is also an error for "forum_name" when I came here as a guest right before logging in.

EDIT: Yup! When a guest views the forum you get the "forum_name" error. I just logged out and looked at the forum twice. Two of those errors showed up.

Steve, it's kind of confusing, because that forum name error  changes.  when you have eval disabled (the real error) it says it's  tinyportal, and when you have eval enabled it says it PMXBlog.  It's defo a mod conflict, so Ken has a few options, 1: live with it. 2: Fix it. 3: Dump it..

@Mick, When an error keeps changing or has a mix of mods in the error then you know it's a mod conflict.

@Ken, Hoping for an answer? From someone who no longer supports their mods or can't fix it? Good luck with that.  :funny:

Maybe if you learn PHP you can fix it but who knows how long that will be...

I've long since (years even) known that expecting help from Feline is a waste of time. Even when she was still giving support it was spotty at best. "Hoping for an answer" is merely a figure of speech, a play on words as relates to my coding skills.  laughing7

Ken, I didn't mean that in a bad way, just meant it as a last resort.  If it can be fixed then I'm sure it's a great feature to have.  That said I've never used any form of blog so far on any of my sites, they just aren't busy enough to warrant the hassle. ;)

Getting this last version of TP out is such a slow process, just found the Extended search is missing, and can't for the life of me remember when or why it was removed.  It's there in TP 1.0  I have asked over at tp.net, but no answer on this yet.

NP Mick.
I didn't take it as a criticism, just as a comment on the state of things with the blog. And, actually, the code issues with this blog make it a crap shoot at best and so the best move would be to drop it. The reason for my long suffering hesitation is that the content of the blog would be lost and plus that I've always liked the idea of having the blog.

Speaking of outdated and obsolete Mods... another one that comes to mind that fell by the wayside was the Reviews mod that Dragooon wrote. I thought it was worth saving, but he grew up and moved on to other things.
I think he's still involved with SMF though.

I just noticed other day that he is on the SMF Staff. If you give him a buzz he may help.

He said yes!
As it happens Dragooon's account is no longer active and he wants to know if he can get it reactivated... so far my searches have not produced any results and I can't remember how to do it. Any help please?  :disturbed:

I think You'll have to re register him, or get him to re register, then reattribute the posts to him. ;)
