Arcade Games Issue
« on: August 20, 2014, 11:25:35 AM »
The arcade entries in phpMyAdmin were dropped and the Arcade installed with no issues, but when trying to upload game pack #1 it throws an error:

Directory /home/kenkayjm/public_html/FamilyForum/Games is not writable and chmod didn't succeed. Please make it writable manually.

Changing the chmod to 777 or 755 is not  any help.

@ Skhilled... Any ideas???

One of those should work.

EDIT: Just looked and Some folders were 777 and I think they should be 755. Also, some files were 777 or 666 instead of 644 which they should be. This is because of the way the server is set up. Ask Frank to be sure what the permissions should be but I'm sure they should be 755 and 644.

None of those work, so I reopened the support ticket to ask Frank as you suggested.

Frank just responded to my question and gave this anwer:

Hi,

I have chmod p to 777 which is the most privileged setting. There may be a issue with the SMF application as the server is responding correctly
Frank Doud

Here's my original question on the ticket:
Quote
Hi Frank

Looks like I closed this ticket to soon... the issue still remains.

Installing something through the SMF package manager works OK but trying to upload a game pack for the SMF Arcade gives this error.
As reported before: "Directory /home/kenkayjm/public_html/FamilyForum/Games is not writable and chmod didn't succeed. Please make it writable manually."

I've tried setting the file chmod to 777, 755, 644 and none are letting the upload go past the error page. Is there some other value the needs to be used for the upload to work?

Thanks... Ken.

There is something wrong with this site or the server. I've even uninstalled the one that was here and tried that version again and an older version. They do work fine on my server and other servers I've installed them on. It is not the arcade that is the problem...
