I like it. Dark themes are not my first choice, but I like the crisp, clean lines.

I get your point, but don't know enough about how code works to have any kind of opinion about what we should do. I agree that more than one person should be able to work on existing code and make repairs when needed, but how to get to that point?

Personally, I think new ideas need to be formed. TP is a great tool but cannot do everything. So, you use it to its full potential and then may need to use something else for the rest...like tracking bugs.

The docs site has old code for TP and themes and needs to be updated for security reasons, if nothing else. If we are working on it now then now is the time to get things organized and updated. How long has Xarcell been gone? Wasn't that the last time it was updated? The internet is always changing and websites need to keep up to stay on top. Security concerns is the most important reason why software needs to stay current. If you have another security problem like before then what happens?

Xarcell did a major redesign of the docs and wrote the 1.0 version docs and that was brought online by me in early 2008, he had built it up on one of his sites and then I copied the entire TP 1.0 Docs over from his site to a newly formed Docs site that Bloc stood up with the custom theme we're using today. I basically did the same as we are doing now... creating new categories/boards and populating them with topics of each doc.
Then later Carina and me did an update of the existing docs, but no where near as in depth as what Xarcell and I did earlier.

Somewhere along in there Xarcell drifted away, I think that by the time he finished his extensive work on the docs he became disenchanted with TP... as far as I remember he felt some members of TP Team were not giving him his due respect, but my memories are rather vague on that score, so I may be wrong.

Yup! I remember when he started doing the docs. Bloc said he liked my tutorials and wanted to know if he could borrow the info or ideas. Of course, I said he could use whatever he wanted. And you're right about how some treated him.

I have yet to find a portal, that does What Bloc has made and what TP is now.
Bloc May be set in his ways a bit, at times as am I,  but No one can put down his work, at any level.
I always respected his coding and designs.

And even though we had are disagreements. he is the best, on SMF related stuff among other projects he has worked on or with.

I was looking forward to seeing him back at it.
Also wanted to note that Bloc has made a few themes that have very nice tools tips, and other great functions.
I also feel that this type thing should be done in the themes and not in the portal for a few reasons.

I will try to think of some things that maybe considered, but feel that TP, may be done in a more simplistic way, rather more complicated. the SMF seems to be going in the direction of many things that can be taken out of the portals.

JMHO
But I love TP!

Maxx

I agree but think TP can be even more...

I also agree, but until I find a proper developer it's not going to happen unfortunately.

A lot of the stuff that's changed in TP over the last few months, and believe me it's a lot, is mainly down to making it compliant with the new coding standards which SMF require these days. Plus getting rid of gif images they use PNG for most of their stuff now.  So although you might not notice the changes there is a lot of them.  Even more so in TP 2 for smf 2.1 beta 2.  Must say that's looking rather good atm.

Thanks.  I will just add that if certain functions of TP don't work, and are not likely to work with future versions of SMF then there's no point trying to fix them. That's why some parts have been stripped out.  The main goal here is to keep it moving, with the idea of developing and improving later when we can. (or if we can).  1.1 is sort of feature locked, although if there's something simple which can be added (example, the built in Top Posters block) then we'll try and do so for TP1.1 and TP2.  Mainly it's bug fixes and code cleanups tbh, there's loads of dead code lying around from previous versions.

Docs Update: Phase 3

Most of the boards and topics have been ported over from TP 1.0 and now we must go through them all to make sure that they are relevant to TP 1.1 and also that now were left out.

Ok, I'll go over them...if those aren't the ones I've already went over. LOL

They are, but... what we were going over before was actually the TP 1.0 files. Those have now all (most?) been copied over to the new TP 1.1 boards and those new topics are the ones we are going over now.
What I'm doing is posting the topics that I've been editing, starting from the beginning of the Docs.

So, if you go to This Topic you will see the docs that I've reviewed and edited so far. If you would proofread those listed in each topic and then add any comments to each topic that would be great.

This Topic is an example of what the docs should look like. Almost all docs are going to require one image and many will require two images, as seen in the one in the link. So, if you see that an image has been left out, or doesn't actually fit well with the subject matter please make a note on that. And your usual proofreading details of course.

Thanks Steve.
