Received an answer that sounds reasonable:
Quote
I'd say it's just logical that you have "approved" a member, when you have banned that member.
A member can't be banned, before he is a member - a member can't be a member, until you have approved them.

Not true. I can give you admin to my account on smfarcade and you can see for yourself. You can just look at the top of the screen to see the one member awaiting approval. You can then check the member list and awaiting approval list (there are a few people in there) to see.

For a few months, I could not find that member and thought it was something Niko did. Yesterday. I knowingly banned someone before approving their account and realized that I should have activated it first. But then there were 2 members awaiting approval. That's when I realized what happened.

It was easy to find out which one was the banned member. After activating their account (yes, while still banned and they stayed banned) the member no longer showed in awaiting approval. The other is still there because I'll have to go through dozens on banned members to find it.

This added info gives me a better understanding of what you are seeing:
Quote
4/ Then the banned member does not show in the view all members list and no longer showing in the awaiting approval list.
5/ Message at the top of the screen still shows "There is one member awaiting approval".

I'm not seeing that in the dev release that I tested it on, so maybe it has been fixed/changed. What I really need to do is test it on my online SMF2 testsite to see what it will do.

You can give me access to SMFA if you like, but my testsite should give me the same thing I think.

That would work, thought about suggesting it but figured you didn't want anyone to know.

I'm seeing the notice at the top of the page and also in the admin panel seeing it say there are 3 awaiting, but only NIBOGO's name is in the list.

You have to click the dropdown on the right to see the rest. There are actually 2 different categories for this. Not sure if there are any more or not...haven't seen any more that those 2. You probably have never seen this because you have admin approval set.

OK, you're set.

Go ahead and thrash around with the settings if you need too... if you break something it can be reloaded.  :08:

NIBOGO is a legit user who created a 2nd account because he couldn't access the first one. I never deleted the 2nd account because it had posts, etc. in case he wanted to view them for some reason.
