[Done] Forum Upgrade Later
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:15:17 AM »
We will be doing an upgrade to the forum software soon, possibly later today.

Bloc has published a pre-release version of 'TinyPortal v1.0 RC1' and it worked great on our test forum so I'll install it here to the FamilyForum as soon as I have some time.
Because we have so much content and so many Mods installed to the site the package can't be installed using the Package Manager... it throws a bunch of errors because of various file conflicts, so I'll have to do a 'manual install', meaning that I'll need to write the code changes by hand to all the affected files. The process is actually more of a copy and paste kind of operation, still it takes some time and effort to get it done.

So, the site may be down for short periods of time during the process, but it should not take all that long.
Provided that I don't break anything!  :hah:

Preliminary testing looks good.

Even though there were install errors showing for the index.php file and the Sources/Subs.php files the install went through seemingly OK and there are no errors showing up in the forum error log.  :2thumbs:

Any new features?

A couple of minor additions to the TinyPortal admin cp and a few bug fixes, but the last release was fairly stable so the list of fixes on this RC1 is rather short. The public release should be coming soon, there has been no mention of just when but my feeling is that it won't be long.

One thing that I like a lot is the copyright, it's now grouped in with the SMF and theme copyrights and looks a lot better.
