New Tools for my B-Day!
« on: June 20, 2012, 04:19:22 PM »
Here's my Birthday/Fathers Day gift for 2012!  :bigteeth:

Some new turning tools from PenState Ind... these are heavy duty scrapers that can be used mainly on the inside of bowls and other types of vessels to produce really smooth surfaces. They can also be used on the outside of turnings.
The main one that I wanted is the 'LX130' because of it's heft, it clocks in at 1-1/2 inch wide and 3/8 inch thick, that's over twice as big as the little thing one that I've been using up until now and should give me much better control when cleaning up the inside of bowls.  riteon

As you can see in this picture, I've already started replacing the handles (the big scraper) because the handles that come with the tools are a bit small for my taste, in fact I may replace the handle that was just installed to the big tool with one that is even larger and longer.  :hah:

Nice handle! How long did it take you to make it?

Thanks Les.
Luckily for me our garage is big enough so that my work area has plenty of room for me plus we can still get two cars in.
