[Draft] Free Walnut Tree [Almost]
« on: May 12, 2010, 12:06:49 PM »
...this is a working draft of a post I'll be making on the Sawmill Creek woodworking forum.

This is an offer of an 'almost' free walnut tree. :)

In our garden we have an old walnut tree that we've finally decided to remove because it's in the way when we are working on the garden with the tractor and we never use the walnuts that fall all over the place.

The tree has started to show a good bit of decay in places, but still has plenty of life left in it and bares lots of walnuts each year, so you should be able to get some good boards and blanks from it.

Sizes:
Diameter; about 16-18 inches a couple of feet up on the trunk.
Height; about 18-20 feet for the main trunk... it would be taller, but at some point the trunk was cut at that height.

We would like to see someone here on Sawmill Creek get the tree so that it ends up being used for something nice like bowls, or boxes instead of just cutting it down and doing nothing with it so if you are interested send me an email or PM. The tree is located in the 27050 zip code.

The 'Almost' part; We would love to have a small sample of whatever you are into building when you do up the tree... a small box, a couple of small decorative bowls, or whatever.

Thanks... Ken
