Title: Topic Notes
Post by: Ken on August 13, 2010, 10:31:03 PM
Just installed Topic Notes (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1906).

Don't think we really need this Mod... but it sounds appealing to me, so I installed it.  :bigteeth:

This modification gives you the possability add a description above a topic. This will then show on all pages for a topic.
Imagine you have announced some event in a topic in your forum. You find out the start of the event has changed. What do you do?
You could announce the changes in a new post in the topic. You could also edit the first post where you probably have the event informations anyway. But who would notice?
Now with this mod you go to the first post of the topic and edit the topic info field. Then everyone will notice. The message will show on all pages of the specific topic.

Umm... it's not showing in the Pandora theme, guess it needs a manual edit.  :08:

Ah Ha!
Did the un-install/re-install and this time told it to install to Pandora as well and it worked.  :hah:

Gotta remember to start doing that whenever I install a mod.

It seems to be working OK... for now it's only turned on for this board so if you guys want it for some of the other boards let me know.

I can see it being useful on a support site like SMFArcade... but maybe not so much on a site like Our FamilyForum.

Yes, especially for sites with a staff that has meetings, etc.
