I am so upset with a mouse, that I'm sure our cat Alf, brought into the house.Ken and I saw the cat with the mouse and when Jake and Minnie saw the cat with it, they wanted to play too....They took turns mauling the mouse. That was one tough little mouse....Ran under the sectional and the three muskateers gave up on it. It ended up in one of my cupboards, where all my large bowls are. I set four mouse traps,with cheese, and it got the cheese, but didn't spring the traps.Next I tried two sticky mouse traps, as I really didn't want to hurt it.Kind of heard it one night flapping that sticky trap around, so I figured when I got up I could throw out the mouse. Well, no mouse next morning. Finally, I bought some Decon rat poison as I knew that he would enjoy eating it. Well, he pooped all over the top of my Microwave and one cupboard, so I know he got to the poison.Decon dehydrates them. It thins their blood.I no longer am seeing little presents from the mouse, but I had to take everything out of the cupboards and wash it.Heck of a way to spend a day off.
I have decided that mice are very smart and that not getting caught in a trap is genetically imprinted in them. They are much smarter than humans.The same probably goes for the sticky mouse traps. They already know about this stuff.
It's a heck of a way to get my cupboard cleaned out.

The funny thing is that mice and dogs will sometimes play with them instead of killing and eating them. LOL

Yeah, the sticky traps work sometimes...with the babies. The older ones can fight their way out and will rip their fur out to do so. The sticky ones that have a deep container and a lot of the sticky stuff work best. If you put peanut butter on the traps (regular or sticky) it will take them longer to eat it (cause it's sticky) and they are more likely to get trapped.

But, I usually use the Decon poison or the "hotel" ones that hold them inside. I put peanut butter in it. They go in but can't get out. I release them outside later.

We use honey on our mouse traps Kay, peanut butter works pretty well to. The cat is just there to deliver odors around the house as a prevention but as others hath noticed, cats do like to play. Favorite trick our Max has is to put a hole in mouses head then let it go when he gets bored.

The Decon seems to have resolved the issue for now.

Just have to wait until Alf dose his catch & release trick again. :yikes:

I had a dog that would catch mice and birds. He wouldn't harm them, just bring them in the house and play with them. We would have to air dry them and release them.

I use a 12 gauge... a bit rough on the furniture...but it's effective!
