This is an Amazing Movie!!!
Do you remember when Star Wars came out and was said to be years ahead of anything that had come before as it related to filming techniques, color, animation, new 'creatures', etc, etc.
Well... this movie is light years ahead of anything you've seen in the past for any of those parts of what goes into making a movie.
And then there's the 3D effects.
It has been several years sense I last saw a 3D movie, so maybe you've seen better than me, but that last time for me was just 'OK' in that you could see the depth of the 3D effects alright, but the action didn't actually jump off the screen at you. Trust me when I say that the first couple of times an object, like a spear, came jumping off the screen I ducked because I thought it was going to tag me in the face!
The story is a good yarn about corporate and governmental greed and lack of concern for an indigenous population and the world that they inhabit because there is a huge fortune in minerals buried beneath their lands and homes. ... now where have we heard that before in real life!
Much has been made about the lush scenery, the beautiful landscapes, the new and wondrous creatures and this movie lives up to all of the hype.

This movie is an action/adventure-sifi flick to be sure, but has lots of other very strong elements as well.
Action/Adventure, SiFi, SiFi Fantasy, Mythology, social commentary and the list goes on.
Plus, an actual all out love story with love triangles and more.
As you may have guessed I like this movie a lot and I plan to go for a second time this weekend. :2thumbs:

I don't go very often Keith, but this one was a must see and now it's a *must see* again! In fact I'll likely be going back to see it on Saturday.

Went to see Avatar for a second time on Saturday with Joel and it was just as good. :bigthumb:
In fact, in some ways it was better because this second viewing I was able to see many things that were missed the first time around. The amount and quality of the background detail is really amazing in this movie and I'm thinking that it would take several views before you began to really 'see' all that is there.
And... I was still ducking and dodging, trying to keep from getting hit in the face by all of those flying objects. :bigteeth:
Joel was raving about it almost as much as me.
