Welcome Les!
« on: March 24, 2009, 05:56:47 PM »
We would like to welcome Les to the FamilyForum membership.  riteon

Les has been our friend here on the forum for some time now and has helped out with design features several times, including some of the latest features that you see in our current theme, 'Callisto'. Most noteablely if you look at the board icons you'll see his handy work where he used Mallie's artwork to make those buttons, as seen here...
&
Also if you look at the 'tree' banner at the top of the page you'll see that he took Mallie's 'Colored Tree & Creek' art to make that banner.
And, he made the forum 'name' graphic for us.

Mallie was impressed by the great use that Les was able to put to her artwork and has offered too make a set of her greeting cards for him. She also wanted him to become a member of Our FamilyForum and he has graciously agreed to do so.
Welcome Les, we're glad you're here.  :bigthumb:

Just a note to let everyone know that Les has been a big help in setting up the new Fine Food & Gourmet CookBook section here on the FamilyForum, plus he has posted some of the great recipes that we're starting to accumulate there.

WTG Les... Thank You!  :2tumb:

Thought it was time to let you all know little more about me... so here goes.......

This is Les, (real name Leslie) Just turned 54 this year, I live in Leicester, in the UK, about 100mile north of London, lived here all my life, I live with My wife Lisa and son Kristian, and 2 daughters who have now left home, Plus Rocky our Yorkshire terrier.

I have always been into computers, at school we had a old IBM which was given to us, but we never did get it going, it filled one class room   I dabbled a bit with Fortran, but only ever got compute the multiples of 3! I wanted to stay on at school, but my parents were poor so I had to leave school at 14, and went in the the same job has my dad, which was a furniture remover, I stayed at that until 15 years ago, But I did get to see all of the UK from top to bottom, very interesting job, got to meet a lot of people too, but I had to give up work due to ill health.

I am self taught in HTML(no PHP  :undecided2: ) and built and maintain a number of sites for people, brings in a little extra   I also do a little commission work on a big forum with over 2000 members which gets me extra too, (the admins cant install a small mod without breaking it!)

I got into graphics a few years ago, and have even done a few commissions, (dont know how I got paid for them!!)

I got my first computer at 24, which was a Commodore Vic 20

Ps: I've been working on something for you!  :up2some:
Go to the SMF default theme and you'll see it... still trying to get it to show in the custom themes like VirtualCell.

Ahh I did see that, but wasnt sure if thats what you meant  :innocent: so you need to add the code to the other themes?

Yepp... the code needs to be added to the index.template.php file, but my attempts thus far only crash the theme. The code from the default theme install routine is not working as expected for me.

Yes... two of them:

Copyright & Footer Links
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1836

Custom Copyright
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1317

Both are installed.

I actually like the Copyright & Footer Links better because it has more features, but they both seem good for doing copyright additions, just need to sort out the code for a custom theme.

have you had a look at a package parser, and just do the theme edits?
